Backlit Stone or a Jaali
A backlit honey onyx wall behind the altar, or a teak jaali screen that lets the room breathe and be seen through — the one moment of light the rest of the home is composed around.
Teak, Brass and Marble
The three materials that belong here, and that clean: teak for the joinery, brass for the bell, the diyas and the pulls, marble for the altar and the floor. No laminate at the altar, where oil and heat live.
Air for the Diya
A flame burns and incense smokes: an outlet or a window, a finish above the altar that wipes clean, and lighting placed where soot will not reach it.
